Knowledge sovereignty is one of the three foundational commitments of the BKC CoIP: governance infrastructure in social and technical systems to empower stewards and safeguard knowledge from misuse. This is especially critical for Indigenous knowledge, which requires protocols respecting age, gender, role, and the distinction between sacred and secular knowledge.
