Community Sustaining Fund of Thurston County

The Community Sustaining Fund (CSF) of Thurston County is a grassroots, volunteer-run organization that provides small grants to support community-based projects focused on social justice, environmental sustainability, and local resilience. Founded in 1985, CSF emerged from a desire to democratize philanthropy and empower local initiatives that might not qualify for traditional funding. It is managed by a board of community volunteers and funded through individual donations, fundraising events, and a unique partnership with the Olympia Food Co-op. CSF holds grant cycles twice a year, awarding funds to innovative, citizen-led projects that strengthen and sustain the Thurston County community from the ground up.
