Island County includes three islands with differing levels of land connection: Whidbey Island, Camano Island, Fidalgo Island. The Whidbey Basin refers to two different units that include Island County. a oceanographic basin identified by PSNERP that includes the protected coastline of Island County. a management unit developed by the Puget Sound Partnership developed a Whidbey Basin. The Island County Marine Resource Committee is a citizen group authorized by Island County to advise on marine shoreline management.
