US Army Corps of Engineers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has a number of authorities, clustered around implementation of the Clean Water Act. USACE is central to regulation of Wetlands and navigable waters. Because of its regulation of in-water work, the USACE often serves as a Federal Nexus for implementation of Endangered Species Act and National Historical Preservation Act They have significant Restoration authorities. USACE regulates and supports Flood Hazard Management systems.Salish Sea work is managed by the Seattle District, led by a Colonel, the District Engineer, on a three year rotation.
