Embayment Strategies for Restoration and Protection: Identification of Embayment System Targets for Restoration and Protection in Puget Sound

Small embayments in Puget Sound provide crucial habitats for many species. Many embayments have been cut off from tidal flow to provide alternative land uses leading to lost ecosystem services. The ultimate project objective is to develop a decision support tool for identifying priority embayments for restoration and protection in the Puget Sound region by evaluating current conditions, assessing future vulnerabilities, and prioritizing protection and restoration actions. This project would be the initial phase to work with regional experts and user groups to inventory existing data, identify data gaps, and develop a GIS framework for an embayment strategies tool.
