coppice
Coppice is an ancient agroforestry practice used to produce strait stems for basketry, agricultural, fencing, and building construction materials and charcoal for thousands of years. Desirable species are cut to the ground or burned, and using root energy reserves, and in the next growing season produce many long straight shoots. Based on archaeological evidence, coppice predates annual grain tillage agriculture, and is a global phenomena.
